Credit Repair 101: Repayment History Information and your Credit Report

Credit Repair 101: Repayment History Information and your Credit Report

Being a credit repair specialist, we are here to help with any credit report improvements.

However, more importantly, we are here to educate you on your credit report.

How you can protect and improve your credit report by yourself is, therefore, our ultimate goal.

Credit Repair 101 TIP: What is repayment history information?

Repayment history information is 24 months account history listed on your personal credit report.

This is for accounts such as your mortgage, personal loans and/or credit cards.

The 24 months shows whether you were on time or if you paid late, or if you were in hardship.

Now, a few years ago, we didn’t have our repayment history information recorded on our credit reports.

But, now we do, and it’s 24 months worth.

So, what happens if you’ve missed some payments?

Watch the video here:

credit repair

Well, it will pull your credit score down and potentially it could stop you from getting approval from certain lenders who offer the best interest rates.

So moving forward, go and have a look at your repayment dates, your due dates for your credit cards for your home loans.

Make sure you’re paying on time.

And it’s really important if you think that you’re going to miss one, get in touch with your lender straight away and make sure you organize some sort of plan.

So it doesn’t get listed on your credit report as a missed payment.

Such a small default causing so much grief, therefore we were happy to take him on.

Credit Repair Explainer

Credit Repair explained to you in one simple blog post.

Hi Victoria, here, CEO of Credit Fix Solutions, licenced credit repair specialist.

And today I’d like to talk to you a little bit about credit repair, how it works, what you can do yourself and what we do as a credit repair specialist.

Now lots of people will think, oh, credit repair. I can do that. It’s easy.

And yes, of course you can try and do it yourself.

You can even lodge a corrections request yourself through to the credit reporting agencies like Equifax, for example.

Watch the video explainer below:

credit repair explainer

But the thing is, is that to remove a default, for example, from your credit report, you have to find that the lender has done something wrong.

Now that in turn implies that they’ve done something wrong as per the legislation.

Now with consumer defaults, that’s the credit reporting code, and that’s what we specialize in.

So, I’ve done thousands of cases and I’ve been doing credit repair for many, many years now.

For example, we have a client who has a default with a credit card. Now they’re not sure whether they can get that removed themselves.

It’s a $10,000 default, it’s impacting them from being able to get a home loan, to be able to remove that default, you have to go to that bank called lender and you have to ask them to remove it as per legislation, as I said, but do you understand the legislation?

Now, if you do lodge a corrections request with a credit reporting agency example, they’ll only look at a couple of aspects of the account leading up to the time that the default was listed.

They can’t look at your entire case. For example, you have extenuating circumstances, if there was a dispute leading up to the time of the default, if someone’s passed away, someone’s got sick.

They can’t look at all of that for you because they’re not a resolutions team.

They’re just a credit reporting agency.

So, to do it properly, you need to go to your lender first and you need to look at all the documents on the account to find an error.

And that’s what we do.

That’s what a credit repair company should do.

If they’re doing it properly, now you can find cheaper options, but are they doing all of that work?

It’s at least 10 hours, at least three to eight weeks.

If you add that all up, it’s many hours’ worth of work.

So you can have a cheaper option with a credit repair company, but they might just be lodging an Equifax corrections, for example, which you can do yourself.

So, credit repair. Yes, it does work. Yes. You can try yourself. Yes. You can lodge a corrections, request yourself, but if it’s complex and you feel like you need to on one to do a really good job for you, that’s what we are here to do.

We only charge you if and when we get a successful result, and you’re in good hands.

You can call us up for a free assessment.

We’ll go through your credit reports with you.

It’s as simple as that, it’s completely no obligation.

We’ll spend as much time as we need to with you on the phone.

We look forward to hearing from you.

If you do need help with your credit reports and thank you for your time.

Time to head out and network (as featured in The Adviser mag)

As recently featured in The Adviser magazine, our CEO, Victoria Coster, explains the importance of networking..

Let’s make 2022 the year for reconnecting.

Victoria Coster, CEO and founder of Credit Fix Solutions shares her tips for networking.

Getting back into networking is a really important part of our business and our industry.

COVID has caused us to be wary of getting out about and we have created the habit of staying at home and conducting business via Zoom.

This may have caused some businesses and advisers to forget how important networking is.

Our success as a company can be directly attributed to getting out there and talking to people.

While I  have worked hard to grow my network via LinkedIn, where I currently have in excess of 15,000 connections, there is nothing like being in the same room with someone.

There are a number of different avenues for networking.

I was recently fortunate to attend the FBAA Conference and awards held at Sea World on Friday 11 March.

The conference was the first time I had been to this sort of event since mid-2020.

The opportunity to speak to hundreds of brokers was invaluable.

Putting faces to names in the  industry and being able to share what we do is at the core of creating new referral partners.

Talking to other brokers and suppliers gives you an insight into how they operate, is a source of growth and can lead to new job opportunities for you too.

While some people may find attending a large-scale event daunting, this can be elevated by careful preparation.

  1. Know what you want to achieve out of an event;
  2. Prior to attending look up the companies that have stands and who the speakers are attending;
  3. Have a game plan;
  4. Review where the stands you wish to go to and have your questions pre-prepared;
  5. Have a 30-second pitch for your business ready to go.

Business Top Tip! Positive leadership helps clients and improving your business

improving your business

Positive leadership helps clients and improving your business

Looking at the world through rose coloured glasses can be difficult at times…
but Victoria Coster believes positivity flows from herself to her credit repair business team and ultimately onto their clients and relationships with referral partners.

When I started Credit Fix Solutions out of my son’s bedroom in my housing commission flat eight years ago.

I was determined to do well and over the years I have built a terrific team around myself.

A positive outlook is essential to any good business.

My positive leadership is backed up by the way we conduct business on a weekly basis.

The team have regular meetings

And… I ensure that I provide my team with both motivational and inspirational learnings and messages.

The team watch videos and have guest speakers, it’s an essential part of our business.

Also, we have a clear vision for Credit Fix Solutions and have developed a credo.

This is based on our values of help, learn and grow.

Our credo is designed to help everyone in the business.

It is laminated and sits on their desk, and if they don’t have an answer to a question that a client is asking, they refer to the credo which usually has the answer.

As well as ‘help, learn, grow’ the credo also includes, ‘honesty’ as well as ‘what we do says what we are’ and ‘we sweat the small stuff’.

The credo was developed by the whole team over an extended period of time.

It is important that you have a real connection between your business and personal values because it creates, passion, drive and motivation.

You can upskill and train anyone but if they don’t have those personal values that align with the business values, your staff and clients won’t connect with the business.

At Credit Fix Solutions we aren’t just here to fix credit, we are here to change people’s lives.
4 Top Tips for you and your team

1. Produce 60 second videos about your team as it is important for people to see the human side of the business.

2. Share who everyone is, what they do and what they love about their job.

3. Try to break the disconnection that the internet has created.

4. Review, rinse and repeat!

I review every aspect of our business every 90 days and I ensure that every team member is part of the process.

It’s important regardless of the size of your team to have regular meetings and catch ups.

This helps people feel valued.

It helps your business and enables a feeling of belonging, connection and care factor which is so important in fostering repeat business.

Investing in systems and processes is also essential to stay on top of workload

You should start the year by writing down all the things that you do.

You can then see if there are areas that you can outsource or automate.

Many people make the mistake of thinking that they can do it all

But it is easy to spread yourself too thin and focus on areas that aren’t essential to your bottom line.

By taking a positive approach you can create the perfect work/life balance and ultimately that is better for business and the world we live in.
